Solutions for Gender Inequality in the workforce.
1) One solution for gender inequality in the work force is to raise the federal minimum wage. According to the National Women’s Law Center, two-thirds of minimum wage workers are women. Two-thirds of workers in low-wage, tipped occupations are also women. “Raising the minimum wage and the tipped minimum wage are important steps towards fair pay for women — especially women of color,” reads a 2014 NWLC report.
2) Another solution is to "Do away with imposter syndrome". Basically, certain people, women in general, think they are unqualified for a position and/or their own job. “It’s hard to negotiate a higher salary, apply for an even more prestigious job, or be a truly standout employee if you’re convinced you don’t belong.” To fix this, it is all about their mentality. Women need to believe that they are qualified, and that they can do their job well and proficiently. It is not a perfect fix, but it will bring us that much closer to fixing the wage gap and end Gender inequality in the workforce.
3) Lastly, speak out about the wage gap. Nothing would work better than just expressing your own opinion of the wage gap. If everyone were to stay quiet, and if the gap was never spoken of then the issue would not just disappear. To fix the problem, the individual has to take initiative to have their voice be heard. Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter are great ways to make your voice heard. Even writing to your local newspaper can go a long way. Discussing these issues and educating people on them is part of the path to achieving gender equality.
