RacialDiscrimination
"As the percentage of white students in our education shrinks and the percentage of students of color grow, the U.S. will be left with an education system that doesn't serve the majority of its children properly; the gaps in education will prove especially problematic.” www.usnews.com
Racial Discrimination is the act of treating someone else unfavorably due to their race, color, or ethnicity. This act is in direct conflict with the United States constitution in the 14th Amendment. It states, "...equal protection of the laws", which figures prominently in a wide variety of landmark cases, including Brown v. Board of Education (racial discrimination)..." Racial Discrimination is not "equal protection of the laws," this means everyone is treated equally no matter their race, color, or ethnicity. Therefore racial discrimination should not be present in schools, the workforce or anywhere in America. However, it is still a problem in today's society mainly in schools and in the workforce.

These statistics show that twice as many black people have less than a high school education when compared to white people. Twice as many white people had higher than a bachelor's degree compared to black people. And 21% of white people surveyed have a bachelor's degree while compared to 13% of black people. "Public school students of color get more punishment and less access to veteran teachers than their white peers, according to surveys released Friday by the U.S Education Department that include data from every U.S school district." From www.huffingtonpost.com. The Brown v. Board of education covers an individual's right to be treated equal in a public school, no matter their race. Racial discrimination in education is not fair, not equal, and is a violation of the 14th ammendment and thereforeshould not be present in our society today.

"Shafiq is a Muslim working as an administrator in local government. His line manager continually comments on his appearance and questions him about Islamic customs. As weeks go by, Shafiq begins to find his workplace hostile and intimidating." (www.brighthr.com) Racial harassment is not limited to overtly insulting remarks or behavior. It can include any unwanted conduct related to an employee’s race, especially when it violates their dignity or creates an offensive environment. This example of Shafiq being harassed by his manager is a perfect example of racial discrimination in the work force. Being discriminated in the work force, in education or anywhere, just because of ones ethnic background, race or color is not right and is against the 14th amendment.
