The Roe v. Wade section in the 14th amendment states that a woman has the right to determine whether or not to bear a child. The issue we continue to run across is the debate over whether or not abortion is an ethical decision, and whether or not it is murder. Although those can be important issues to discuss, the bigger issue at hand is that it is legally a woman's right to determine whether or not to bear a child. State legislators and governors play a big role in dictating the laws on abortion and this is becoming an issue, as some are trying to ban abortion. “Trump wants to completely ban abortion, with exceptions only for rape, incest, or when the life of the woman is in danger. He’s backed this up by showing support for a ban on abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy.” Not only is he trying to ban abortion, he is also trying to get some sort of extra punishment if a woman gets an abortion. “Trump said there should be ‘some sort of punishment’ for women who seek abortion if it were outlawed.” This is an issue because it states in the 14th amendment that a woman has the right to determine whether or not she has a child, and Donald Trump is completely going against that.
At this time, politicians, like Donald Trump, are picking at the 14th amendment, and are trying to take away women's rights all together. Donald Trump also states in article by Charlotte Alter "I think we have to keep our country very competitive, so you have to be careful of it.” Donald Trump is not directly saying, but implying that planned parenthood should not be a thing because of the cost. But if planned parenthood is not a thing, then thousands of young mothers, and young families would struggle in the modern world today. They need to have some sort of guide to help them enter this world as an adult starting a family. If not, they will end up struggling heavily, risk ending up unemployed, or even on the street.
